Animal Treasure Island
Gardaland asked us to reinvent one of its most popular indoor rides. What began as a refresh became a complete transformation: Animal Treasure Island, a new, character-led adventure designed to captivate families and younger audiences while maintaining thematic depth.
Creative Transformation
Every element of the ride was rebuilt from the ground up. Working with MMM’s creative direction, we helped realise a new storyline and a cast of 22 characters, each with distinct personalities and roles. Embedding these characters into the AV, effects, and set design gave the attraction greater emotional depth and a stronger sense of discovery for guests. What made the experience truly work was the seamless blend of technology and physical set. Every technical element; projection, audio, and effects, was designed to enhance the story and environment, never added as a standalone feature. This integration allowed the ride to feel like a world guests could step into, not just watch.
Immersive Technology
Floor-to-ceiling projections and a world-first 3D spatial audio system with more than 200 speakers made the ride space feel far larger than its footprint. Effects such as smoke, scent, wind, and a nine-metre water curtain were integrated into the story, so every detail worked together to deepen immersion.
Smarter Delivery
Our in-house animation team expanded the experience from a handful of scenes to nearly 40, using motion capture for more natural character movement, achieved without increasing cost. A full 3D scan and VR model of the ride space allowed us to refine sightlines, pacing, and transitions in advance, while custom control systems and automated failovers ensured smooth daily operation.
