For Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! at Alton Towers, we designed and delivered the immersive systems that shape the experience around the ride. From the queue through to dispatch and into the environment itself, audio, lighting and media work together to create a connected, character-led journey. Familiar moments from Bluey’s world are translated into physical space, with playful interactions and subtle illusions that bring the environment to life for younger guests and their families.
Scale & Artistry
Set within Bluey’s backyard, the attraction combines a first-coaster experience with a fully themed environment designed to feel recognisable, playful and full of energy. Interactive queue moments invite exploration, with trigger-based experiences encouraging guests to engage with the space before they ride. Within the Bluey house set, a bespoke visual illusion blends physical scenery with digital content, adding depth and presence while staying true to the tone of the show. The result is an environment that feels cohesive and character-driven, where the world of Bluey extends beyond the ride itself.
Innovation & Technology
At the core of the experience is a spatial audio system designed to create variation across every ride cycle. Using bespoke system logic, the soundtrack shifts and recombines while staying true to the tone and structure of the story. With trillions of possible sound combinations, the system introduces variation while maintaining a clear narrative flow. Each ride feels familiar, but never identical, encouraging repeat visits and ongoing discovery. This variation is delivered through a large-scale audio system that surrounds the entire attraction. Rather than relying on onboard audio, the soundtrack is experienced consistently throughout the ride environment, creating a seamless and immersive soundscape. Spatial audio techniques distribute music and effects across the space, allowing sound to move with guests as they travel through the ride. Audio and lighting are synchronised with coaster dispatches, extending the energy of the ride into the surrounding environment and building anticipation as each train launches. Within the Bluey house set, a transparent screen allows digital content to sit seamlessly within the physical environment, adding depth without breaking the illusion.

Reliability
Designed for a high-throughput family coaster environment, all systems are built for continuous daily operation. By synchronising audio, lighting and interaction with ride dispatch and simple trigger-based systems, the experience remains robust and repeatable without adding unnecessary complexity to the ride platform. The result is a dependable system that delivers variation, energy and consistency across every cycle.
