Zufari

A hidden world that blooms to life as guests pass through

For Zufari: Ride to Africa at Chessington World of Adventures, we created an ethereal cave environment where projection and UV-reactive scenic design work together to transform the space in real time. As vehicles enter, the environment blooms into life around them. Light, colour and detail emerge from the darkness, revealing forms that weren’t there a moment before. The effect is a moment that feels discovered rather than delivered, unfolding exactly as the guest arrives.

Scale & Artistry

The cave is designed as a physical space first, using UV-reactive scenic elements to build depth, texture and atmosphere. Projection is layered carefully across this environment, enhancing what is already there rather than replacing it. Surfaces glow, patterns shift, and details reveal themselves gradually as the ride moves through the space. It’s a contained scene that holds attention, a pause in the journey where the environment itself becomes the moment.

Innovation & Technology

The experience is driven by vehicle-triggered playback, using ride timing and location cues to synchronise projection, lighting and scenic activation. This ensures the transformation happens at exactly the right moment, with the guest viewpoint always at the centre of the experience. By combining projection with UV scenic design, the system creates a responsive environment without adding complexity to the ride. It feels interactive, but remains tightly controlled and simple to operate.

Reliability

Built for continuous daily operation, the system is designed to perform with consistency and precision. All elements are synchronised through ride triggers, ensuring the cave activates at the same point on every cycle. The result is a dependable experience that delivers the same moment of transformation, every time.
